“Every immigrant who comes here should be required within five years to learn English or leave the country.”
I guess the suspense isn’t killing anyone. But it was said by Theodore Roosevelt.
What struck me about this is some of the same issues existed almost 100 years ago. Also despite Teddy’s comments, he won a Nobel Peace Prize for mediating a Peace agreement with Japan.
