I know it’s been a while since I’ve written a blog. We’ve been under the weather at our house and I tend to veg out and watch tv when I am sick…well, in between napping. Last night I was watching the Food Network. Throwdown was on. For those of you not familiar, Bobby Flay a well known chef, goes around challenging other chefs and bakers in the area of that person’s expertise. Last night, it was the cupcake challenge. They found the best cupcakes in New York City and Bobby Flay challenged the chef to a “bakeoff”.
Her cupcake was a very moist red velvet with cream cheese icing. His cupcake was a gingerbread cupcake with mango icing and crystallized ginger sprinkled on top. Those cupcakes looked delish.
So today I walked across the street to the Texas Pie Company. If you ever visit downtown Kyle, it is on Center Street and sign has a HUGE 3-D slice of cherry pie. They make a great turkey sandwich. They always have a great assortment of baked goods. They had a whole plate of cupcakes. The one I choose, was chocolate cream filled cake with chocolate icing. It was very good. I’m not sure if it would win a throwdown with Bobby Flay but it definitely hit the spot.

You can order your holiday pies…for pickup or delivery. I highly recommend the Chocolate Fudge Pie.
