What do You Believe?

Do all religions lead to salvation?  Is there more than one way to be saved?  Is the Bible true?  Is the Bible the Word of God?

According to Time Magazine 57% of Evangelical Christians, who responded to their survey, were willing to say that other religions lead to salvation.   To read more check out  Christians: No One Path to Salvation .  The article also says the religions least willing to say other religions lead to salvation were Mormons and Jehovah’s Witnesses.

What does this say about Christian Churches?  Do Christians know what they believe?  Is enough doctrine being taught?

Not all Christians are Evangelical.. Mormons are technically Christians.

Either way.. most religions are intolerant. I’m actually quite surprised at the lower..although majority number of “yeah we’re better than them”

  2. There is a really in-depth analysis of this study available directly at the Pew Forums website: http://religions.pewforum.org/reports

It’s also really fascinating to see exactly how the US population is actually broken down by religion. I was under a different impression before reading this.

“A majority of those who are affiliated with a religion, for instance, do not believe their religion is the only way to salvation. And almost the same number believes that there is more than one true way to interpret the teachings of their religion…This is not to suggest that Americans do not take religion seriously. The U.S. Religious Landscape Survey also shows that more than half of Americans say religion is very important in their lives, attend religious services regularly and pray daily.”

  3. I wonder how most of these people define Salvation. I have talked to execess with others conserning the different opinions on the topic and i think there are several differing point of views on how to describe “Salvation” I think there is only one way to salvation but we each take a different path along that way. even in the same context of a peticluar faith there can be found differing opinions on what is salvation.

  4. Bah. This is frustrating stuff to hear. What on earth is the point of being a Christian if other religions offer salvation also? Why adhere to any religion? Why not just be a ‘good person’?

Christians need to realise that Christianity is a religion of inclusive exclusivity. ALL are welcome into God’s grace, but God’s grace is ONLY offered through Jesus Christ.

If people get miffed about that and label Christianity (and religion in general) as intolerant, they completely misunderstand the message of the Gospel.
