Great Weekend

Standard

The prayer conference this weekend turned out great.  Many people were out of town and didn’t have a chance to attend.  Don’t worry, we made a DVD…one I hope to never watch.  I have never gotten used to hearing my voice recorded…it sounds weird.  In my head I sound so much better that I do recorded.  My brother-in-law Mark is editing the footage (he recorded from several angles), when it’s complete, I’ll try to post some highlights on here.  Two highlights of the conference…praise and worship (Dennis, Mike and Josh did a great job.  Mike was awesome enough to jump in and work the sound for us, for the whole conference, just because we need someone) and Charlie’s session on submitting to authority was very insightful.  I look forward to watching that session again.

After the conference, we attended church on Saturday night.  Then I went into the office today to continue learning this software package.  Later this afternoon, we drove into Austin and ate at Threadgills.  Lately, I’ve been craving some “home cookin'”  Sure, I could have cooked at home.   So we were headed into town to eat at Kirby Lane Cafe (I wanted some migas and pancakes…I know, great combination….it’s just too hard to decide what to get at Kirby Lane).  We were passing by Threadgills and I’ve been telling Dennis I’m going to take hiim there.   It was good.  The highlight of the meal really was the banana pudding that I ordered to take home.

To top off our weekend, our friends JoVena and Rob, who moved to Memphis before we even married, called to chat.  They are awesome and it was great catching up with them.

    The Promises of Abraham
Many people today want to be rich, or at least well off, so to speak. But, what has God promised his people? Are they to have an inheritance on earth as they do in heaven? Well the Bible says they do, but like any promise in God’s word it is based on your faith in Jesus Christ.
The Bible says, if you belong to Jesus, then you are Abraham’s children, and the blessings that God gave to Abraham are yours as well. It is written in the Holy Bible, “Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham”
“And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed and heirs according to the promise”
“That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith”, {Galations 3 v 7 – 29- 14}.
So what are the promises of Abraham that we may be blessed as he was? Well, if we look in the book of Genesis Chapter 17, we find what God promised him — “ I am the Almighty God – walk before me and be thou perfect, and I will make my covenant between me and thee and will multiply thee exceedingly – – and I will make thee exceeding fruitful” So you see, God is Almighty, and if we follow Jesus by obeying his word, living the very best that we can, then God will multiply you in everything and make you fruitful in every way.
Now, that’s his promise to you, “For he is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,”{Ephesians 3 v 20}.
For as it is written in the Holy Bible, “Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and all these things will be added unto you,” {Matthew 6 v 33}.
